What states honor a Colorado concealed carry permit?

Confirmed against each state’s own official source, a Colorado concealed carry permit is honored in Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Florida, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. It is not honored in California or Nevada — and Nevada is the one that trips people up, because many third-party maps show it as covered when Nevada’s official list does not include Colorado. Wyoming reportedly honors it too, but we could only confirm that indirectly, so verify with Wyoming before relying on it.
The confirmed list
“Reciprocity” for an outbound trip is decided by the destination state’s law, so the only reliable source is each state’s own police, DPS, attorney general, or statute — not a nationwide map. These are the states we verified against an official source:

The two states people get wrong
Nevada — no. Colorado is not on Nevada’s official recognition list, even though popular reciprocity maps often show it as covered.
Effective July 01, 2025 ... Pursuant to Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 202.3689, the state of Nevada will recognize concealed weapons permits from the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho (Enhanced Permit), Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi (Enhanced Permit), Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota (Class 1 only), Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota (Enhanced Permit), Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
California — no. California recognizes no out-of-state permit. Concealed carry there requires a California-issued CCW license under Cal. Penal Code §§ 26150 et seq.; carrying on a Colorado permit alone is a criminal offense (Cal. Penal Code §§ 25400/25655).
Verify before you travel. Reciprocity lists change, and the destination state’s law — not Colorado’s — decides both whether your permit is recognized and where you may actually carry. Confirm on each state’s official police/DPS/AG page close to your trip rather than trusting a third-party map.

Common questions
Is a Colorado concealed carry permit valid in Texas?
Yes. Texas recognizes a valid Colorado license to carry a handgun under a standing reciprocity proclamation, and Texas separately allows permitless carry for eligible adults 21 and older. See the Texas page.
Is a Colorado permit valid in Nevada?
No. Colorado is not on Nevada’s official CCW recognition list (effective July 1, 2025), so a Colorado permit is not honored in Nevada — despite what some reciprocity maps show. The non-recognition is mutual.
Does Wyoming honor a Colorado permit?
Reportedly yes, but we could only confirm it indirectly — Wyoming’s official Division of Criminal Investigation page did not return readable text to our check, so the Colorado entry was triangulated from secondary sources. Confirm on the Wyoming DCI page before relying on it.
